The Centre for Arts and Technology Halifax and Frederiction Campuses will be sponsoring the annual  3 day Hal-Con sci-fi, fantasy & gaming convention in Halifax, November 8th -10th at the World Trade & Convention Centre, 1800 Argyle Street , Halifax.

A large group of passionate volunteers come together to make this annual event happen. With guest speakers from various communities such as acting, gaming, authors, comics, animation, music and modeling presenting, it is sure to be a can’t miss event. Some prominent guest speakers include; Billy Dee Williams of Star Wars fame, Peter Davison as the 5th incarnation of Doctor Who, Richard Hatch from Battlestar Gallactica, and comic artist Ty Templeton who has worked on various comics including some from mega comic house Marvel.

There is a plentitude of events happening inside Hal-Con; including autograph and photo opportunities, costume contest, charity auctions and gaming demos. Tickets range in price from $5.00 for children to $150.00 for full family access. Tickets can be purchased online HERE.

Centre for Arts and Technology is a digital media based post-secondary institute with three campuses in Fredericton, Halifax, and Kelowna. The Centre’s certificate and diploma programs offer preparation for careers in Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Audio Engineering, Digital Photography, Event and Promotions Management, Graphic and Digital Media Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Network Security, and other emerging entertainment industry and information technology careers. 

Both 2D Animation and Animation for Game, Film, & Visual Effects programs are offered at the Halifax and Fredericton campuses. These jam-packed animation training programs focus on the technical, creative and business perspectives of the animation industry. These programs provide a solid foundation in traditional arts and computer animation including, 2D classical animation, life drawing, character design, layout design, game design and storyboarding.
