This past fall, the graduating Events & Promotions Management class in Kelowna, partnered with the graduating Fashion Design & Merchandising students to put on a fashion show event that made waves across the city.
The event – “Fashionable Autumn” – was hosted at the Kelowna Community Theatre on September 24, 2011. Following red carpet arrivals, the fashion show took place and included looks from four local boutiques: Frakas, Influence, Raw 69 Athletics and Asphalt Shoes, followed by individually designed runway looks created by the graduating fashion students.
The after party featured a silent auction and fashion student portfolio presentations. During the silent auction, outfits from the boutiques promoted on the runway were auctioned off, with all proceeds going towards creating bursaries for future students.
The event caused such a stir in the community that Mayor Sharon Shepherd awarded it with a Community Spirit Award, to recognize the outstanding job done by CAT students planning, and running the event.
Take a look at some of the videos taken at the event, including some of the backstage “organized chaos” know to happen at all large scale fashion events!
