  4. Canadian fashion brands making a splash, FT reports

“Yes, the Canadians are coming. And no, it’s not all lumberjack shirts and ice hockey jerseys.” The Financial Times recently published an article about Canada’s increasing presence in the global market. It talks about the fact that Canada can’t ever “beat” America on cost, but that consumers around the world are becoming more interested in Canadian fashion brands due to a “strong sense of design”.

It also talks about all the new flagship stores being opened by Canadian fashion brands south of the border – Aritzia, the Montreal-based M0851, Joe Fresh. Check out the article on FT for the full story.

Speaking of hot Canadian fashion brands making a splash in the global scene….

It’s interesting that the story didn’t mention Canadian’s superstar yoga and lifestyle brand lululemon athletica – do you know how many stores they have in the US? Many. (See for yourself, here.)

Fashion Design & Merchandising career news: Speaking of Aritzia and lululemon athletica, both companies have been hiring fashion designers and merchandising artists for their Vancouver-based locations in recent months! In fact, Aritzia is recruiting a fashion designer right now!
