Graduation Frequently Asked Questions
All grads will receive graduation registration details and information by email, but we thought it might be helpful to post some frequently asked questions. Check them out below! If you don’t find the information you’re looking for, please email us at [email protected]
Your graduation ceremony will take place on Friday September 22nd, 2023 at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Grads will be asked to arrive at 2:00pm for check-in and processional lineup. Guests are invited to arrive at 2:30pm and the ceremony itself will commence at 3:30pm.
Graduate registration for the ceremony will be done online on this page. Registration will open in August, date TBA. You will receive an email when online registration is open.
Yes, all graduates will receive a schedule by email in early September.
Each graduate will be provided with two complimentary guest tickets. If you plan to bring more than two guests, you can purchase additional tickets for them at the cost of $19.25 each. We ask that you plan to bring no more than 5 guests total. (2 with free tickets, 3 with paid tickets)
All guests over the age of 3 will need a ticket. Children under 3 do not need a ticket.
Extra tickets will be made available for online purchase through Kelowna Community Theatre’s online box office. You will be notified by email when additional guest tickets are available for purchase.
No. All graduates will be sat near the front of the theatre in a specific processional order. It is important you stay in the lineup order provided. Guests will be seated behind the graduate section.
All graduates will be provided with a graduation cap to wear during the ceremony. The rest of your attire is up to you!
Yes, graduate portraits will be offered on campus on Wednesday, September 20th and Thursday, September 21st. A full cap and gown regalia will be available for you to wear for your portrait. You will need to pre-book a timeslot and will have the opportunity to do so in early September. You will be notified by email when the online booking portal for portraits opens.
We prefer that graduates attend the correct graduation ceremony. However, we may be able to accommodate special circumstances. Please reach out to us at [email protected]
The online registration form will provide you with an opportunity to let us know how you would like to be addressed as you are called up to walk across the stage. If you forget to do so on the form, please email us at [email protected].
At the conclusion of a program, a graduation audit takes place, and this audit can take up to 30 days. Upon completion of the audit, graduate info is sent to Finance to confirm all grads are in good financial standing. Once confirmed, all graduates eligible to receive a diploma will be contacted to choose whether you’d like to pick up your diploma on campus or have it mailed to you. If you have paid in full for your program, you can expect to receive your diploma within 2 months of your program completion.
If everything runs smoothly, the ceremony should last no more than 2 hours. Please listen to all instructions preceding and during the ceremony. Your attention and cooperation will help to keep the ceremony running on time.
Yes. We will have a film crew onsite during the ceremony. In addition, the ceremony will be live streamed for guests unable to attend in person. The URL for the live stream will be provided to you by email ahead of the ceremony.
Absolutely. We simply ask that they respect those around them, including other guests, and our professional film crew and photographers.
If you registered online for the ceremony but are now unable to attend, you must inform us. Please email us at [email protected]. Only graduates in attendance at the ceremony will have their name read aloud. Any grads not at the ceremony will still appear in the official ceremony program.
Public parking around the Kelowna Community Theatre is readily available, however, there may be other events happening downtown and as such, we recommend that you arrive with ample time to find suitable parking. Please see the city of Kelowna’s parking information page for additional information.
