Fredericton Audio Engineering School Receives Special Recognition

On December 10, 2012, the Audio Engineering & Production program at Fredericton’s art school, Centre for Arts & Technology, received the 2012 Honorary Membership Award from the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. The award was in recognition of the audio engineering school’s ongoing involvement in and support of the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival.

The festival’s General Manager, Amy Theriault, and Production Manager, Judy Joe, presented the award to the Fredericton art school’s Audio Engineering Department Head, Kevin Herring. The presentation took place at the audio engineering school’s SSL and Protools HDX equipped studio facilities in downtown Fredericton.

Kevin Herring was more than excited to be receiving this award on the behalf of the Audio Engineering program. For several years running, students at the audio engineering school’s Fredericton campus have been given leave from classes to fully participate in the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. The participation gives students invaluable hands-on audio experience in a professional live sound environment.

“This increasingly internationally recognized festival provides the audio students with invaluable work experience in their chosen area of study. It also provides the students an opportunity for building a network of contacts within the professional audio community. We are very fortunate indeed to have, in Fredericton, a festival of such stature in which our students can become actively involved,” stated Herring. “I am honoured by the recognition accorded the Audio Engineering & Production program - for both faculty and students alike.”

Centre for Arts and Technology is a digital media based post-secondary institute with three campuses across Canada in Fredericton, Halifax, and Kelowna.
