The annual Digital Bootcamp is the highlight of Centre for Arts and Technology’s year!
It represents months of hard work and allows all of us at the school to “show off”, as high school students – and sometimes their family members – come from far and away to “test drive” our programs during Spring Break.
What is Digital Bootcamp?
Digital Bootcamp is a four-day workshop where high school students can travel to our campus in Kelowna, BC and take the program (for Bootcamp, we call them “missions”) of their choosing. We offer 4-day missions across all of the programs: Animation, Digital Filmmaking, Digital Photography, Interior Design, Graphic & Web Design, Audio Engineering & Production, Network Security and Veterinary Hospital Assistant!
Due to COVID-19, Digital Bootcamp has had to adjust these past two years…a “normal” year would see over a hundred students from three different provinces come to our campus. In 2020, Digital Bootcamp adjusted to a summer program and only local high school students being able to participate. Our Health and Safety Committee made sure our students and instructors practiced physical distancing while taking part in classes, and while very different, last year’s Digital Bootcamp was successful.
2021’s Digital Bootcamp looks to be closer in execution to the 2020 version, while more students will be able to take part, we have limited which classes they will be able to participate in. But that hasn’t stopped Centre for Arts and Technology from doing all we can to put on the best possible Digital Bootcamp.
Hopefully, 2022 will bring us a “back to normal” Digital Bootcamp, but as this year’s Bootcamp approaches, we are, as always, really looking forward to the students arriving and festivities getting underway.
Pathfinder Program
For those who weren’t able to attend Digital Bootcamp this year, we are offering a new program series called “Pathfinder”. “Pathfinder” enables students who are unable to travel to our campus to enjoy the same education test-drive opportunities but from the comfort of their own home.
Centre for Arts and Technology’s “Pathfinder” offers students in Grades 12 the chance to take a post-secondary course while still in high school. These courses have been selected to offer a sneak peek into our full-time programs, taught by our dedicated full-time staff, you will get an inside look into the possibilities at Centre for Arts and Technology.
“Pathfinder” programs are available to be taken online via remote delivery, and students who successfully complete the program will receive a tuition credit for the completed course when you become a full-time CAT student! We have an Animation Pathfinder starting in April of 2021 and we’re so excited to be able to provide this opportunity to a wider audience!
