Digital Photography Students Graduate with a BANG!

News

The Centre for Arts and Technology’s six Digital Photography students are graduating, and are holding a launch and release of their new photography brands
and businesses. These six photographers all hold a very different and personal style that they are looking forward to debuting to the world as they graduate.

The styles of photography differ so here is a little bit about each photographer: From 100 Mile House Sandrena Foster of Sandrena’s Photography produces art that takes your eye on a journey though the photograph as she focuses on capturing the movement of a subject. Next is the Okanagan’s Justin Zubeck of Zubeck Photography who has a wicked eye for detail and collaborating with other creative minds while shooting fashion and portraits. Larissa Wiebe of Curious Fish Photography is established in Vanderhoof producing family farm photos as well as fun teen fashion shots. Loving the snow from Salmon Arm is Emma Patterson of Triple F Photography who photographs exciting summer and winter sports. The culturally diverse Alex Nikolova of All Star Photography from Calgary brings art to fashion with her sharp and colourful photographs that wow. Finally from Vancouver Island Sarah Dawe of Katherine Photography strives to bring nature and the silly moments of families together in her environmental family portraits.

In addition to their gallery show, all graduating photography students will participate in a light-hearted competition to stretch their creativity and technical prowess. We have fondly dubbed this competition “The Photathalon” and even have a nifty golden camera trophy for the winner. This competition was unveiled when the last cohort of digital photography students graduated and was truly a chance to witness how much each students has grown and developed in their pursuit of becoming a professional photographer. We are happy to have some awesome sponsors on board as well, both MPIX and WHCC have signed on for a second time to provide prizes for the ultimate winner. You can read out blog post about the last Photathalon HERE, and stay tuned for full coverage of this fun event.
