You know those photos you come across sometimes that just give you the chills? Ones that tell a story about a place, a life, a history, like words can’t describe? Ever wonder about the photographers behind some of those images? Ian Gibb is one of those people.
Halifax-based photographer – and Digital Photography grad – Ian Gibb, went on a trip to Guatemala last fall, and returned with images that tell a story, much like what you’d expect to see in National Geographic. Throughout the month of March, Ian’s work was displayed in 20 large format prints, at the Public Archives in Halifax.
About Ian Gibb Photography
Robert Frank said: “When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.” Ian Gibb embraces this idea as he looks through the lens and then closes the shutter decisively. More interested in capturing question marks than punctuating with exclamation points, he looks for subtlety in the immense.
