It was a sea of red in the fashion department here at the Centre for Arts and Technology’s Kelowna campus, but its not what you might think. Fashion department head Suzette Van Bakel was on hand to watch proudly as one of her students was interviewed by Global Okanagan’s very own Toby Tannas. Fashion student Monaco Krohn, was busy preparing her red contribution to an upcoming fundraising event in support of the Okanagan/Kootenay Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Monaco and her fellow fashion students are all designing and creating one of kind red dresses that will be seen flowing down the runway at the upcoming November 2nd fashion show. And you may recognize a few faces in the model line-up for this event; Toby Tannas will again lend her charm and community dedication to this event, along with Heart and Stroke representative Jessica Samuels, who was also on hand yesterday to promote the event. The event, aptly titled “The Heart Truth” focuses on women’s heart health and promises to be a not only informative evening, but one of fashion, celebration and entertainment as well. The evening will feature a wine reception, fashion show, live entertainment, silent auction and raffle. Consider picking up a ticket and attending to support this worthy cause as well as our student fashion designers.
