Interested in getting a head start on your post-secondary journey? Unsure of what to take after graduation? Centre for Arts and Technology’s Pathfinder Programs offer high school students in grade 12 the opportunity to take a post-secondary course while still in high school. These courses have been selected to offer a sneak peak into our full-time programs, taught by our dedicated full-time staff, you will get an inside look into the possibilities at CAT.

The best part? All Pathfinder Programs are available to be taken via online, remote delivery from the comfort of your home and students who successfully complete a Pathfinder Program will receive a tuition credit for the completed course when you register for the next available program start date!

Courses Available

3D Animation & Modeling – APRIL (3D Animation)
Animate your future! This course will introduce the student to the various exciting aspects of the 3D animation production pipeline, where you will learn to model, texture, light, animate and render in Autodesk Maya.

Digital Paint – APRIL (2D Animation & Digital Art)
Create in color! This course is an introductory exploration of computer graphics as a technology and a creative medium. Through the use of the industry-standard software, Adobe Photoshop, students learn the fundamentals of working with raster editing software for digital graphics creation and image manipulation.

Introduction to Computer Graphics – JULY (Digital Photography)
Get your vector on! This introductory foundation course provides a solid background in vector and bitmap graphics creation, graphic file management, scanning and format conversion necessary for every field of computer graphics. This course primarily focuses on the Adobe suite of products, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.

Post Production – JULY (Digital Filmmaking)
Edit your vision! This course will begin the process of instruction in non-linear editing and teach basic proficiency in text animation using Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects, utilizing the Adobe suite of applications. Learn the basics of video editing to bring your film plans to life!

Intro to Digital Music Production – JULY (Digital Music Production)
Mix and Master your own future! Intro to Digital Music Production leads students into the world of modern music creation.  Get engaged in the process of creating modern electronic based music and EDM styles, using industry standard sequencing techniques.  Along the way, you will acquire knowledge and technical skills like looping clips, mastering MIDI instruments, warping audio, synthesizing unique sound, and applying creative effects as you develop your own unique sound.
