Dale Allen Berg is a thirty-something year old concert promoter, Executive Director of KeyNote Productions; a company he formed in 2010 while in school at the Center for Arts and Technology (CAT) in the Event Promotion & Management (EPM) course and instructor for several courses in the EPM program.

Since he was a kid, Dale has always had two passions in life: music and food. During high school Dale balanced both passions and began to excel in both producing live concerts and events as well as in professional cooking. However, after moving out on his own, Dale chose cooking as his full time career becoming a Red Seal Certified Chef, while music was placed on the back burner. After a decade of managing restaurants including owning three of his own, Dale found himself looking for a new challenge and knew it had to involve concerts and live music. His culinary career had taken him to cities across the country, and finally settled him in Kelowna with his high school sweetheart.

Driving home from work at his last restaurant, he determined it was time to whole-heartedly pursue his number one passion: concert promotion. After some research, he discovered that CAT offered the very program he needed in order to pursue his dream, so, he enrolled in the EPM course and began laying the ground work for his newest venture, KeyNote Productions. Through the course of his academic program at CAT, Dale was able to secure significant industry contacts and used the program to propel and create KeyNote Productions upon graduation.

Today Dale has built up his company to be a key player in the live music and concert industry in Kelowna having already produced more than 50 concerts and events including big names Bob Saget, Down With Webster, Shawn Desman, Hanson, Carly Rae Jepsen, Tom Green and more. His ultimate goal is to establish KeyNote Productions to be a household name in the concert promotion industry in Canada and the world music scene.

Dale is loving being able to balance his business and teaching schedule, joining the team at CAT. Returning to his ‘roots’ at CAT, Dale is thrilled to be working with up and coming event planners and helping to give them the skills necessary to enter the industry.

"During my business program I was taking at Okanagan College, I found out about the Centre for Arts and Technology through one of my event planning electives. During the Event Planning and Promotions Management Diploma I took at CAT, it opened doors for me in the event planning industry that I have taken to new levels. Over the past three years I have worked my way to now being the sole producer of the Lake Country Children's Festival for DCL and the Lead Planner for Top Knot Events. Both of these opportunities came to me during my program at CAT, one during industry night where I presented my pitch on event planning and what path I wanted to take in the industry and the other as an intern during my program which I then secured a position after a graduated." - Gabby Urban
